Kane Tables Discussion On S.E.S – Smackdown 6/25/2010

Codebreaker30 was having some Internet issues this weekend so I’m helping out and giving you the inside skinny on all things Smackdown this past week.

Kicking off the night, SmackDown GM Theodore Long revealed that new World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio will defend his title at Money in the Bank while Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero announced that the duo will soon choose eight Superstars to compete in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. With Vickie involved odds are good Dolph Ziggler will make it in.

Also, despite CM Punk’s proclaimed innocence in the recent attack on The Undertaker, Kane felt he had found those responsible and carried out his own special brand justice. As for the match itself…

Kane vs. CM Punk No Disqualification Match ended in a No Contest

Kane took on CM Punk in a brutal No Disqualification Match. As their battle waged on, The Big Red Monster found himself tangling with the entire Straight Edge Society. We even saw the masked member without his hoodie (though no discernable markings were seen to identify him, I think it’s recently resigned Joey Mercury though). Despite the odds, Kane held his own, capping off the battle by chokeslamming Luke Gallows through the announce table.

But the action was far from over as the Big Red Monster raged onward. Punk sought refuge by running out into the audience and into the arena lobby. Kane quickly followed and delivered a punishing attack, smashing the S.E.S. leader through two tables and head-first into one of the arena’s steel beams. Finally, Kane shoved Punk through an exit door, sending him running off into the night.

As for the rest of the show…

Big Show def. Jack Swagger by Disqualification

Bitter about losing the World Title at F(Four)tal 4-Way, Swagger mounted an aggressive offense against The World’s Largest Athlete locking in an ankle hold. The former All-American American World Heavyweight Champion closed in on victory but Big Show reached the ropes and Swagger failed to heed the ref’s orders to break the hold within a five-count. Swagger was disqualified but the damage was done as Big Show left stumbling and reeling in pain after the bout. Swagger has issued his rematch against Mysterio at Money In The Bank.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston, Christian & MVP def. Dolph Ziggler, Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer

Ziggler, Hawkins and Archer displayed an effective and ferocious effort but in the end it was the veteran Christian who made the “impact” when he countered the Zig Zag and hit Ziggler with the Killswitch.

Matt Hardy def. Drew McIntyre

Apparently having being reinstated to the roster by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, Matt Hardy went back to war with rival Drew McIntyre. In a epic contest featuring multiple near pinfalls, it was Hardy who won out when he finally achieved some retribution with a Twist of Fate. Afterward, Long revealed that McIntyre’s visa had expired and ordered security to send him back to Scotland and I suddenly became completely confused with what is going on with “The Chosen One”.

Kelly Kelly def. Rosa Mendes

Mendes attempted to show off by jumping rope in the ring before the match. I liked it but I like most things Rosa does. Despite being outmatched with a jump rope Kelly Kelly beat Rosa with a quick pinfall as soon as the bell rang. After the match, Kelly tossed the jump rope (possibly to feel better about her inadequacy with the device) at LayCool, who were sitting in on commentary. The duo leapt to their feet, ready to retaliate but backed off when Tiffany stood side-by-side with Kelly. Really? All it took was Tiffany?

Cody Rhodes voted Most Handsome?

With NXT Rookie Husky Harris at his side; Cody Rhodes revealed he was voted “Most Handsome” in the WWE.com Diva’s Poll. After gloating about his victory, Rhodes touted his good looks and dubbed himself “Dashing” Cody Rhodes. Interestingly enough he was also named Most Conceited. I don’t see why though. Full poll results can be seen at WWE.com
